This department provides review of all new developments for conformance to City standards and policies; formulates conditions to be imposed on proposed developments; and conducts complete reviews of final plans and maps, including computing and collecting required fees and bond amounts. This function has been integrated with the planning and building functions to ensure proper inspection and plan checking of projects within the City. Program staff maintain house number records and provide public information for City standards and design and permit requirements. This program also provides comprehensive engineering services and capital project administration. In fiscal year 2008-2009, this included pavement resurfacing projects, and a significant water line replacement. These services are funded by the fees charged for services. Staff also conducts engineering studies, maintains mapping, annexation records, and reviews working drawings and change orders during construction. This department also provides planning and engineering for street design, traffic signs, and striping and curb markings to promote the safe and orderly flow of traffic. City Engineer services are provided through a contract with Weber, Ghio and Associates.
