Police Services consist of the following broad programs; Patrol, Traffic Enforcement, Parking Enforcement, Detective Division, and Community Oriented Policing. These services are supported by police administration and communications functions. Law enforcement coverage is provided 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week. Reserve police officers, police cadets, and volunteers provide additional support for these programs. Officers perform all facets of law enforcement, including emergency response, enforcing laws, investigating reported crimes, and acting as deterrents to crime.
The Jackson Police Activities League (JPAL) is a recreation oriented juvenile crime prevention program that relies heavily on athletics and recreational activities to tighten the bond between police officers and kids in the community. JPAL is based on the belief that children, if reached early enough, can develop a strong, positive, attitude towards police officers in their journey through life towards the goal of adulthood and citizenship. Another program aimed at the youth in the community is the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program. D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches children in the fifth and sixth grade at Jackson Elementary School how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives.

Report Copies may be obtained either in person during regular business hours or by written request. There is a $10.00 charge for the first 5 pages and an additional .25 cents per each page thereafter. Copies may be requested by mail. Send your written request along with a self- addressed stamped envelope with your check to:

Report copies are available within 7 to 10 working days from the date the report was taken. Report copies are not available to suspects or persons under investigation; when cases are under investigation; or if there is cause to believe that the welfare of other individuals may be in jeopardy by the releasing of the report.
Vehicles, property, & safekeeping articles are available for release during the hours of 9:30 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, as time is required to process the necessary paperwork.
Vehicle releases may require a service fee and will only be released to the registered owner or their designee with a permission statement from the legal owner. Proof of insurance and registration are also required.
Property, including vehicles, that have been confiscated or impounded in the course of an investigation as evidence, will not be released until the investigation has been completed and/or a written order from the Amador County District Attorney's office has been received.
