EPA and DTSC Activities Related to Argonaut Mine Continue

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) have been working to remove arsenic contaminated tailings and lessen the likelihood of a failure of the Argonaut Dam.  A public meeting was held on August 18, and EPA is working with DTSC on interim and permanent measures to protect the community from a dam failure.  This 99 year-old dam is located just above the intersection of Argonaut Drive and Sutter Street.  More information is available at:  http://www.envirostor.dtsc.ca.gov/public/profile_report.asp?global_id=03100002  .
