The Building Department is the primary source of service and information to builders and the public regarding general construction and the building codes. This program serves engineers, architects, developers, contractors, homeowners, and others involved in the design, construction, and/or maintenance of private property in Jackson. The department provides technical assistance to homeowners and contractors, processes applications, reviews permit applications, issues building permits, and provides building records reports. The Building Department also administers those portions of the City’s code enforcement/neighborhood enhancement program associated with the condition of structures on private property, as well as weed, rubbish and vehicle abatement and serves as the City’s floodplain administrator.
The Building Inspector is available to answer any questions at the Jackson City Hall, 33 Broadway,
in person or by calling 209-223-1646, Monday through Friday between 8:30 am to 9:30 am and 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
On Site Inspection Times are available Monday through Friday between 9:30 am to 11:30 am and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A 24 hr. notice is required. Other arrangements may be scheduled by making a request at least one working day prior to requested time.
